Charlie Roark Guitar, lead & backing vocals. Charlie is a self
taught musician. He has played guitar for about 35 yrs., but spent 12 yrs. as a drummer in an original rock band called Six
Cents. A native of the Springfield Ohio area, he was exposed to live music at the age of 8, by a musician that was a family
friend (Steve Eldridge), a drummer for several local garage bands in the mid-sixties. Spending much of his adolesent yrs.
going to as many rock concerts as possible, he developed a variety of influences. Starting a family in his early 20's, he
put playing music on hold until the late 80's when Six Cents was formed. Having no drummer, Charlie decided to give it a try.
With a fair amount of success learning the drums, the band went on to write many tunes & recorded 3 albums. After
being enlightened by a close friend, he began to listen to the Grateful Dead, whereupon he became quite obsessed. Charlie
spent the yrs. between 1988 & 1995 taking in as many shows as was financially possible until the death of Jerry Garcia
in '95. This was an extremely depressing time, as it was for many Deadheads. To get through it, he turned to playing
the music of the Dead on his guitar, leading to the formation of what would become Terrapin Moon. Now, as a grandfather,
he hopes to pass the tradition on to the 3rd generation of his family through the performance of the uncountable numbers of
songs in the G.D. vault.
Steve Schwartz DEADHEAD, Drums, percussion, lead & backing vocals - Steve spent 26 of his first 29 years in Claymont,
DE. He got his first guitar when he was 15. He did the garage band thing for a few years, then switched to drums for the last
year or so. Life took an unexpected turn when he headed west to Buckeye Lake, OH to see the Grateful Dead Perform. Well, it
was more than a performance....it was a "musical power" only Deadheads will know. Listening to the DEAD nonstop
for the past 15 years, annoying friends and family members...one could mistake this passion for obsession. But it made the
transition possible when called upon to play the drums for Terrapin Moon in april of 2007 even with little drumming experience.
In his spare time, he likes to spend time outdoors, 4 wheeling, riding motorcycles..or anything with an engine...and listening
to "Grateful Dead" music (imagine that!)
Deadtom comes to us from a musical family in upstate New York.He
started taking piano lessons at the tender age of five, and got his first guitar when he was thirteen. In 1995, two weeks before
Jerry died, he was turned on to the Grateful Dead by Dave Devore, currently with Terrapin Moon, and Chris Lee, guitarist for
Nine False suns.Today he says that grateful Dead music rescued him from a life of musical boredom. He also believes the
music should play the band !
David Devore began his musical journey with the guitar in the
early part of 1990 after watching his brother Michael play drums in Dayton based blues band Quasimojo along with Kevin
Vorhees & Joe Brock, drummer & lead guitarist respectively.Influenced early on by Eric Clapton,Carlos Santana, and
The Allman Brothers, David's musical passions ballooned after obtaining vinyl copies of Live Dead and Dead Set.That was the
pivitol moment and after attending a Grateful Dead show at Richfield Coliseum (near Cleveland ) in the fall of 1991,the deal
was sealed. Now he brings a tremendous amount of talent and deadication to Terrapin Moon.
